To trap a monster, is to try and lock away your insanity....Why do we lock away what we don't understand? It is nothing but a frightened beast...It may speak your language, but not in a way that you can understand. Nor do you try to understand. You are scared of it, and it is scared of you. The monster that dwells inside your own head. You want it to go away, but it is just as stuck inside your head as you are. Talk to the monster. Face your demons. Only then can you get some peace...

Octopussy|My Pet Neko

Tips on Boosting Self Confidence

 Hello peeps! Above is just a few shots I took at my new house, hee hee. I'm enjoying the place so far...

Anyway, I talked  to a friend recently about self confidence. We had both admitted to lacking it during our teen years, but with some work, regained it. Today I will share a few simple tips on how to have good self confidence (in no particular order). Already do? Well, these tips may still come in handy before a job interview, or any other moment when many of us are not at our best in the self confidence department. 

1) The Mirror: This is my Ace, so i've decided to share it first. When I lacked self confidence, what helped me the most was my bathroom mirror each morning. I made sure to point out something nice about myself that day. If my skin seemed prettier than normal, I would point that out (I have eczema on my face, so pretty skin meant a lot to me). If my hair looked healthy and shiny, or soft, or perhaps I managed to get my hair into a pretty hairstyle, I would tell myself that. If I had put together a nice outfit, I could point that out to myself too. There are plenty of things one can point out about themselves..just look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself what's pretty that day. 

2) The Mirror - Improvement: If "The Mirror" works for you, which I have good faith that it will, then i'd take it a step further by making small self improvements. Again, nothing wrong with caring about your looks. If a certain facial scrub worked the day before, i'd of course try it again the next day for the same "pretty skin" effect. If I liked my hairstyle the day before, I would fix it up the same way the next day. With this, I might add a little lipgloss. I'm not big on makeup, especialllyyyyy with my eczema, but a little makeup isn't a bad thing. I also began to put more effort into my outfits by planning them out better, and adding accessories. This way, slowly, you learn what kinds of things work for you and bring out your best features. By being able to look in the mirror and like what you see is a tremendous confidence booster. It's about doing your best to knock out as many physical insecurities that you have about yourself. Not everything can be changed, and i'm not saying go get plastic surgery or anything, but little changes really do help. I was born with a twisted leg, but I focus on my other good physical points so that it bothers me less. Focus on improving what you can so that you don't let physical differences put you down. 

3) Inner Beauty - If you can point out what's good about you on the outside, what about the inside? Think about those good things that make you...you. I'm a humorous person, so that's a strong point about me. Kyle mentioned just yesterday about how I am able to make jokes about myself. I know how to laugh at myself if that situation arises, or make a joke about myself if i see room for one. I'm also honest...some may say that i'm brutally honest...probably true. But I see it as a strong point because so many people ask me for advice or for my opinion and know that they're not going to get a false or sugar-coated answer. Things like this are what make me, me. Think about your inner qualities that are good. Just thinking about them can help boost your confidence because it reminds you that you're special, and have natural gifts. You could even take things a step further, and seek out friends who share similar qualities, even if it's just on the internet. 

4) Be Thankful - Okay...so your life isn't perfect. Whose is? So...you've had a very hard life? Well, you've prevailed. If you suspect that things that have happened to you are whats holding you back, you must let them go. They're in the past, this is your present. If you're in a good relationship, have awesome friends, a job, a good skill, a fun hobby? Anything like this is something to be grateful for. Sit down and think or write out a list every now and then about what has happened recently that you have to be thankful for. This will help to remind you that your life isn't completely full of bad things. And if you honestly can't think of anything good going for you right now, then get up and start a hobby. You can go to the gym and work out a few times a week, you can go help out at shelters and schools, pick up fishing, hiking, building model airplanes or make paper dolls... Well hey, you're in Second Life; start building, or join a club and start working. Try and remember that, most likely, something good is in your life, you just have to remember what those things are. 

5) Whoops! Oh well. - Not all mistakes can be dismissed...if you did something to piss off the love of your life and he/she leaves you, that's not the easiest to shrug off...But, some things are easy to shrug off. If my blog photos don't turn out the best, I just tell myself "better luck next time". I don't sweat it. Don't get me wrong; I love this blog with my heart and soul, but I will not let it stress me out too much. I know that i'm not perfect, but that's okay. No one is. This sort of goes hand in hand with "being thankful". If I mess up on a set of blog photos for an entry, I remind myself that the last entry or one before it was wonderful, and that i'm not perfect so every picture won't turn out the same. If you messed up on something not major, let it go. You're not a total failure because of a little slip-up. Remember those things that you're thankful for in your life; those things that are going good for you. 

6) Make Believe - Last but not least, it is more than okay to pretend like you have self confidence.  This step was pretty big for me too. I acted like I had more self confidence that I really had. No, I didn't act like some over-confident jerk, but I also made the effort to let go of my shyness, and tried to open up to people more. I even admit that i'm still not the best in this area, but i'm getting better all the time. By acting like you have confidence, it can trick the brain into thinking you have said confidence. You'll start to become comfortable with having self confidence, and start to become comfortable being you. If you're willing to give this a try, it also may help if you know someone who tends to know a lot of people. Kyle knows a nice amount of people, so he's like my wing-man. Because I go places with him, if he sees someone he knows he'll introduce them to me. I then radiate my confidence to try and knock away some of my shyness, and well..I've gained a few friends thanks to him and my effort. Please don't confuse this with trying to be said friend. It's important to be YOU. If you find yourself defining you with what you see your friend in, or the way he or she behaves, that's just copying. If they have their hair a certain way/color, have a certain taste in accessories, or a certain overall style..yes it may work for them, and people may love them for it, but it's important to find your own style. No one wants someone else trying to be them. So make believe yes, but come up with your own style

Regaining and maintaining self confidence isn't easy, trust me. And no, it's not going to happen over night. But remember that little changes can lead to big changes. Try adding these steps to your daily routine, try talking about your self confidence issues with a therapist or a close friend or family member. You loosing your self confidence probably wasn't your fault, but no one but you can get it back. I know plenty of people who think that they can find self confidence if they have a boyfriend, girlfriend, or just plain friends to tell them they're attractive and compliment them, or think that substance abuse is the way to go. These things will just delay you on your path to self confidence, and usually tend to do more harm than good. Love you first, inside and out, as much as possible. You have to stand on your own two feet. Work on a better you.

Fitting In

Hey peeps! I tried something new!!! 4 views, one photo to upload. Not sure if you all will like it, but I do! <3

Well on to a more serious manner...Last night I was talking to a certain Lilibug sissy about "fitting in". We're both African American women that are quite different from the "ghetto stereotype". Let's not pretend like stereotypes don't exist. Even worse than them? I know full well that many African Americans (note that i did not say all) follow the "ghetto stereotype". They feel the need to "act black". My sissy and I are part of the group that don't follow said stereotype, and i've been told countless times that "I don't act black". I find this to be humorous, considering how the same people wish to be "unique". In my old predominantly African American high school, while their were some slight variations, most people looked the same when it came to the clothes they wore and hairstyles. They even talked the same thanks to slang. I always wondered how this was unique. I was told that I "talked proper" (is it bad to speak near-proper English?), and asked if I knew who "Lil' Wayne" was....lol. Sure, most people knew that rap wasn't my thing, and that I preferred "white people music" *cough*, but come now...it doesn't mean that I put in earplugs every time rap comes on the radio. And for the record? Amongst my rock and screamo tuneage, I did have some Lil' Wayne and Drake. Lol. 

While me dressing like a punk-rock chick with my spiky chokers and bracelets with a manga in my hand and something heavy blasting in my ears didn't seem odd to me, it did to them. I showed them something different, something quite unique for our school, and it really turned heads. While a handful of people were impressed with my uniqueness I admit (not that I did it for the attention), some people seemed afraid or something, haha. People are afraid of what they don't understand. People tend to shun what they don't understand. I did find it nice that some people asked me SERIOUS questions, instead of mocking me. Those open-minded souls are what the world needs more of. Don't understand? Try and understand instead of freaking out about it before you even know what it's about. 

*Exhales* Whew. Moving on...My purty plaid vest is called "John Open Vest", by Paperbag. I loveeee this vest! It's mesh of course, and it's all tattered at the end, hee hee. Lastly, i'd like to mention my super cute eyes!  The owner of The Sugar Garden had asked on Flickr for some suggestions for eyes, and because i contributed she gave me my suggested eyes for free! Yay! These pretty eyes come in system and mesh! The mesh is adorb but I didn't wear them with this shape because Inu has such large eyes lol. But believe me their great! Electric Shock

 Recently (last thursday) I went on a trip with Kyle, my real life best friend, and some others to an amusement park. It was quite fun! I got on some rides, played in the arcade (watched Kyle own Dance Dance Revolution), saw some of their shows, and all around had a good time hanging out with them. A day I surely won't forget~

On another note, i've updated my music collection, sooo expect some music coming your way! \o/



 Surely you've been to this round of Perfect Wardrobe [X] by now? No!? Well hurry on over there and pick up this top called "Sochi ", by Yulicie. In the pack it comes with one cropped version (shown) for females, and one normal lengthened shirt for males. :)  I enjoyed this round; it had some good stuff, and it was more packed than usual. Gaia Online's ZOMG MMORPG

Hey Peeps. So, i've been a gamer for quite some time. I remember playing Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. I was so amazed with duck hunt; shooting at the screen, trying my best so that the stupid dog wouldn't laugh at my failures. Lol. The dog mocked me a lot though, seeing as I wasn't so great at it.

I've never been so great at gaming, but i've always enjoyed it. Aside of Second Life, i've been playing Gaia Online's [X] MMO, "ZOMG [X]". I enjoy it for several reasons. For one, there are literally thousands of items to customize your 2D avatar before battle. Your avatar is used across the site, such as on the forums which has always been a very large internet community for anime fans and gamers. Then you can take your custom avatar into a 2D virtual world in your web browser (no software required), full of monsters and quests (some of the NPCS are quite humorous if I might add). Now this may not be a game for hardcore gamers, but it's quite enjoyable game. It gets even better: The money you earn from killing monsters and quests can be used back on the website so you can buy new clothes! :D This game is free, buuuut like any game you can spend money for clothes or to buy a FEW items from the ZOMG store. Note that I said a few; this game doesn't allow money to rule it...unless you're flippin' rich in rl, which well...yeah. The only thing i'm not fond of is that pets can't fight, but I hear they're working on that. ;) All in all, it's a easy to learn game with enough of a challenge for your average or not-so-skilled gamer. ^^' Hell, even Kyle's enjoying playing with me and he's an excellent gamer, lol. :P

Those Moments In Which Love is Created

Hello peeps. I hope i'm not neglecting you all too much for RL. I do miss you, I really do...but recently it's been one thing after another. Hell..I don't even have time to post tonight but I was determined to do so. You know I love to blog. <3

Well..."Those Moments In Which Love is Created"...Is something you quite often see in movies. You can see love blossom right before your eyes. I don't think that this is something that happens often in real life..it's usually over a stretched period of time that is much longer than a 2 1/2 hour movie. But sometimes these moments can happen in real life..perhaps the love was already there but sometimes before your eyes love can deepen. Yes, i've experienced this on several romantic nights, such as formal events or snuggling up just the two of us. I admit that some of these moments I sometimes wish to forget. Those moments when things were perfect between me and a certain someone, when I thought my "hunt for love" was officially over after those moments...just to be so wrong. Kyle and I had a "moment" yesterday, and well...I don't worry about that moment turning bad because I know in my soul that there can't be another weirdo for me to fall for. Kyle..you're strange. But well..I'm pretty strange too. :P As you said "not many guys could put up with you." Hahahaha! Very true my love, very true. Thanks for putting up with me. <3



My outfit? Well the top is called " Hot Summer Top" and is by Fashion Fears [X]. The top would be fab for Memorial Day. Not sure if you've heard of this shop, but it's quite nice and smexy!

 My dress ensemble is made up of two items from [ SAKIDE ]: "Silk Tutu Skirt White" which includes both the skirt i'm wearing as well as the strapless tube/bra top, and "Summer Cor[s]et Dress White" which includes the mesh corset around Inu's waist as well as a dress (not shown). I decided to mix the two to create a whole new look. :) I'm also wearing some lipstick by Acid & Mala. It is included in their, "Pastel Lipsticks - Whites" set. Second Life VS Microsoft Skydrive

I've missed you peeps. Recently i've been almost completely unable to take photos. Sucks, right? I had to get to the bottom of this if I wanted to keep blogging. It was driving me insane. Every time I would try and get to the "Save as" window..CRASH.

Not that I noticed at the time, but this problem occurred with the installation of  Microsoft Skydrive. I didn't even think about it because I didn't take photos that day, also I had it set to not startup with my computer so it wasn't even running, and yet...SNAP CRASH SNAP CRASH....*facepalm*

Apparently, there is a DLL file that causes the problem. There are two known solutions for this problem:

 1) Simply uninstall Skydrive. I mean realllyyyy, you could just upload on the website.  (This is the method I chose.)
 2) If you remove a few files from Skydrive, they will work harmoniously.

Ohai...I hope everyone had a good Mothers Day. :)

What did I do?  I made my mom some oatmeal for breakfast with some raisins (I can't really cook so yeah >.<'), and I vacuumed the floor for her. Not much I know, but better than nothing at all, am I right?

I had a little money but I gave it to Kyle. He's going on a little field trip, and had NO money. I'm sure my mom would have preferred that i gave the money to him instead of me giving her the usual flowers and a candy bar or three. She may be my mom but I have no clue what she likes. She's not the materialistic type, she's more sentimental and practical. To her it's the thought that counts. Besides, like most mommies, she's "on a diet" anyway...Looool. Gotta love mommies.



Well today I decided to look..."normal"? Did I just say..."normal"? Doesn't everyone have horns along their back and a tail? ;) Haha. Just being a little diva, haha. I haven't worn my prim boobies in a while either, sooo I decided to pick an outfit that would include them. They want to be in the spotlight too after all! Though I must admit, I prefer my usual small boobies in SL. I like having nice full hips and a plump rump, as well as a physics layer.

In case you're wondering, my tattoo says/is called, "We all made of stars", and is made by Angelic Tatto [X]. I figured it complimented the look pretty well. It not only has the text on the front of an avi, it has stars going all the way down the back.



Oh! As for my "location", i'm inside of a skybox. I like having random places to hide in when im in SL, lol. This purty 1-room box is by Odenwald [X]. With the cute little bar, I think it would make a cute, low prim Bachelorette pad, lol. There's one in blue as well, for you Bachelors ;).

The Farmer's Daughter

I LOVE how the above picture turned out. \o/ I'm very pleased with it, haha. Not quite sure if I should use it on a profile or something though...Plurk? *shrug* No idea.



Today my outfit is inspired by a bit of a story I came up with in my head. It's about a farm girl whom is in love with city life. She wants to be kawaii like the girls in her magazines. I can imagine the effort it would take to get city items. She does her hair up in a pretty hairstyle, and modifies some of her clothes to make them cuter. Yet, she still lives on a farm so anything but boots would be hard to wear out. She did enjoy visiting the farm's grape vines and apple trees, so one wouldn't want to ruin their pretty shoes.

Well..I've never lived on a farm. At closest, my family feeds stray cats twice a day. We by them cat food and sit it out in the backyard. We have a pretty usual crowd of strays that stop by for their breakfast and dinner.  It's really cute. We even have a couple kittens out there. They always stand IN the food platter, LOL. I do enjoy watching them. :)



 I've mentioned my sissy Fluffy [X], haven't I? She has a cute little blog where she takes brilliant photos of different places she discovers. It's small at the moment, but still worth the peek.

Missing Me, Missing You

I'm sorry everyone, for being away for a while. Super sorry! Forgive me. :( Someone very important to me was in the hospital, so I was trying to stay near their side some so they wouldn't miss me too much...I was there for them, making them laugh before their scary procedure, and there to visit some afterwards too. Said person is out of the hospital now, and I can rest a little easier. I blog from the heart, and I had left a nice chunk of my heart with the person who was in the hospital so I really didn't have the heart to blog....But again, said person is out now so i'm quite happy.

Yes, Inu's sort of doing an Alice in Wonderland spin-off look. If you set her appearance to the ocean scenery, I suppose one could say that the "Alice in Wonderland" theme is used to connect two different worlds. The story of Alice in Wonderland takes normal and twists reality, putting Alice out of place. Inu has taken a journey, and is seeing reality obscured. She stares upward out of the ocean towards a speck of light, wondering how to return to normalcy. She is forced to try and solve her problems in the normal world by facing them in her sub-conscious mind. The cold ocean water that surrounds her numbs her body so she cannot feel pain, tears cannot be seen because water surrounds her, and she cannot be hurt again if shes all alone.
